About KCRO

Nowadays democracy and human rights are considered the most important issues in the world.

Terms like Democracy, Social Justice and Public Participation were unknown words in Iraq.  Silence, terror and a blind adoration of the leader percolated through the past decades. The 35 years of Saddam’s repressive regime has eliminated all signs of civic society. Prominent civic activists and professionals were eliminated. Independent thinking on individual and social level was uprooted from the very beginning.

After the Liberation of Iraq and fall of the previous dictatorial regime , various Civil Rights Organizations have been established  as part of  the process of changing to a new Iraq.

Kurdistan Civil Rights Organization - KCRO is considered one of the active and important organizations that has been and still performing its activities since 2003. Thus KCRO has been able to set a strong base among the public, also able to have a local and international position in the area through its distinct activities even though the financial resources are limited; however the organization will continue performing its activities  to ensure a civil democratic society in Iraq is established.
